Over the years, this site has undergone a great many changes. It all began with the construction of a guest house in the 11th century. A chapel, infirmary, refectory and apothecary were subsequently added in various stages. These were eventually partly demolished to make way for a new hospital, a hotel with a spa, a restaurant and a conference centre. Despite the site’s historic character, the various extensions and buildings from different periods gave it an outdated and gloomy appearance.
This project involves the refurbishment and new construction of the hotel and conference centre, transforming it into a hotel that emphasises light, freshness and openness, thereby giving it a contemporary look with a significant historical touch. In addition to the renovation of the historic monastery site, a new building will be constructed in a contemporary architectural style. This will house the reception area, offering a magnificent view of the adjoining winter garden and the rest of the site.
