Seven building volumes rise from the landscape alongside the river the Schelde. Their varying heights and facade surfaces give the complex a diverse appearance. A “deck” was created between the buildings, which stand perpendicular to the banks of the river the Schelde. This serves as an access road, a cover for the parking lot, and also as an esplanade for the residents—a place where they can enjoy a beautiful view of the surrounding residential areas, forests, water features, …
The main structure of the buildings is a combination of cast-in-place concrete and precast elements, with all joints and connections poured on site. Foundation piles are located beneath the general foundation slab. Wide-slab floors were used, a semi-prefabricated flooring system in which prefabricated slabs are poured on site. The load-bearing walls consist of concrete walls and/or masonry made of standard-sized silicate blocks.
