Bicycle tunnel Hove
This is a bicycle tunnel that provides a safe passage under the busy Edegemstraat near Hove station. Thanks to this tunnel, the last missing link in the non-stop bicycle route Berchem - Kontich was eliminated. Construction of the tunnel under Edegemsestraat began in August 2007. The tunnel was cast on site, in a construction pit as a monolithic element and then pushed into its final place by rails. This allowed the interruption of the Edegemsestraat to be kept to a minimum. Subsequently, the necessary retaining walls for the access ramps were poured after which the bicycle path could be finished.
