The Fourth
The Tafelrond is a historical monument in Leuven. The original building dates from 1479 and, together with the Town Hall, dominates the view of the Grote Markt. Created in 1928, the Tafelrond is a copy of a 15th-century building designed by architect Mathieu de Layens. The National Bank resided there from 1921 to 2002.
Today, the Gothic building has been repurposed as a four-star hotel, restaurant and duplex apartments. The rear facade, on Rector De Somerplein, is being completely renovated. Dugaryn Architectenbureau and Architect Stephane Boens are responsible for the design up to and including the execution of the project. From the tendering phase, architectural and engineering firm OSQB has assumed the role of project manager. OSQB acts on behalf of the client and takes on the financial supervision of construction project and 'unburdens' the clients during the construction process. The range of tasks includes the budgetary follow-up: contractual financial agreements, comparative study of tenders, minus- and additional works and any additional assignments, as well as the follow-up of agreements regarding time limits.
