Vakantiepark Roompot Schaijk (NL)

Back
The starting point of integrating the Roompot vacation park Schaijk into its natural surroundings resulted in a whole new approach to the design and location of the vacation homes. A traditional plan in which the site is divided into lots along an access road often results in a loss of open and green space. Each lot is individually fitted with a screen and the vacation home is placed centrally on it. In principle, it is very reminiscent of traditional subdivision, with the difference that in a vacation park the available area is often somewhat smaller, so that the residual space around the vacation home cannot be perceived as qualitative. Our desire for security and privacy is the cause of this way of working. While working out the plan, we set out some lines of force in which this privacy and nature integration were prioritized as important requirements. New forms of housing such as cohousing are very much on the rise. The similarities to a vacation park are not really far away. Instead of placing all the homes on a separate plot and fencing them off, we provide the homes in a green park environment. To this end, we have modified the architecture of the homes. An additional objective for the architecture was small scale. For this we worked with a volume-based division. A number of typologies were developed to cater to a diverse group of potential vacationers.
