VPK Paper nv has been producing paper and cardboard for the packaging industry on their industrial site at Oudegem since 1936. Over the different years, parts of the entire site were added without a global vision. As a result, in 2011 the company was asked to evaluate the layout of the entire site. The current offices of the various company departments were so scattered throughout the site that it was not conducive to workflow. As a solution to this, all the fragmented departments were grouped into one building, making it possible to organize the relationships between all internal work processes more directly.

The merging of several small buildings into one complex creates a more compact and efficient use of space. As a result, a positive and especially stimulating spatial openness is created within the business park. Spatiality within a business park should guarantee the livability of the location in a concrete and structural way. From its concept, this office building creates a strong attraction with respect to the immediate surroundings. This means instinctively that all persons who come to work in the factory every day will feel the spatial adjustments and experience them as positive.
